Marine Engine Repairs

It is no secret to my friends and family of my interests in boats, jet skis, and water  sports on the Jersey Shore. I was born and raised on the Jersey Shore and boast of being a "Claim Digger"!

My most recent engine repair project is that of a full rebuild of a 1999 Mercruiser 5.0L (Chevy 305 block) engine. Below are some of my project photos and video clip:

Video Clip

Getting Started - Remove the engine from the vessel.

Remove the engine components - Power Steering, Water Pump, Heads, Harmonic Balancer, Carburetor, Pulleys, belts, oil pan, push rods, etc.

Preparing to remove the crankshaft.

Now the camshaft.

Intake Manifold

Engine Mounted to trailer for final testing (Outside of Garage)

Ouch, Engine Test failed as Starter was damaged when the engine Hydro Locked. Need to rebuild the starter as the Outer Ring of the Planetary Gears was striped. May as well change brushes, bearings, and gaskets.
